Location & Where to stay

The location for the Rotary District Conference 2023 is the world-famous and picturesque Atlantic Seaboard of Cape Town, South Africa. As the beauty and cosmopolitan nature of the place attract many locals and tourists alike, the area is very busy, particularly in April as it is well known to be one of the best times to visit Cape Town. Traffic is bustling and with the positioning of the Atlantic seaboard, the roads both within the area and the roads leading into the area from other parts of Cape Town are generally congested. When there is load-shedding and the traffic lights are not working, the situation, unfortunately, gets even worse.

Thus, we recommend that you:

  • Choose your stay in the Atlantic Seaboard area.
  • Allow AT LEAST 30 mins travel time to venues within the Atlantic Seaboard and AT LEAST an hour travel time if coming in from other parts of Cape Town (but be sure to check a GPS like WAZE to be absolutely certain that you will get to the venues on time!)

Local Travel

Should you be coming in from out of town, whether you are staying in the Atlantic Seaboard or further afield, it may be easier to use:

  • Uber by downloading the App on your smart phone;
  • MyCiTi buses (https://www.myciti.org.za/en/home), rather than hiring a car (although that is of course an option); and
  • IMPORTANT: Make sure to power your battery of your smart phone to easy access these travel options.
